The Arab Revolt in Palestine: New Perspectives
The Arab revolt in Palestine (1936–1939) is increasingly viewed as a pivotal event in Palestinian Arab history and as a precursor to the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. This lecture outlines Palestinian actions, British policies, and Jewish/Zionist approaches to the revolt. Drawing on recent scholarship, we will discuss the revolt's wider impact on the Arab/Zionist conflict in mandatory Palestine.
