Atwa Jaber is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Near and Middle Eastern Studies program at the Department of Social Sciences. As part of the Futures Interrupted project led by Prof. Dr. Falestin Naïli, his work explores social, economic, and political initiatives undertaken by Palestinian refugees throughout the Arab world in the three decades following the Nakba. Focusing on oral histories and critical archival research, his work examines how refugees’ lives were disrupted between moments of abrupt expulsion, systemic violence, and perpetual exile.
He was previously a Doctoral Researcher in International History and Politics at The Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), where his research centered around the histories and geographies of forced displacement, focusing on Palestinians’ lived experiences in/through the occupied Jordan Valley.
Atwa holds a bachelor's degree (2012) in Law and Public Administration from Birzeit University in Palestine, as well as a master's degree (2019) in Development Studies and a doctoral degree (2025) in International History from the Geneva Graduate Institute.
