Curriculum Vitae
Mustafa Nasar joined the Near and Middle Eastern Studies Program as a Research Associate on 1st August 2021.
He studied Islamic and Religious Studies at the University of Basel where he also obtained his master's degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies and Political Science.
From 2019-2020 he worked as an Academic Intern at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) in Bern and Islamabad.
Abstract PhD Project
Representations of the Ottoman Empire in Arab Gulf Historiography
The PhD project examines representations of the Ottoman Empire in the historiography of the Gulf monarchies. As part of a qualitative content analysis, school textbooks issued by the respective ministries of education for use in public school history classes are analyzed. The work focuses on the period spanning the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s.
