Zeitgeist ・Duh vremena ・ Zamanın ruhu

There is no better way to present your research results to a wide audience than to make a film. SIBA project manager Nataša Mišković was presented with an extraordinary opportunity when the well-known Croatian-Czech director Lordan Zafranović saw the exhibition “Cities on the Move - Post-Ottoman” and offered to make such a film. The result of this collaboration is Zeitgeist, an educational yet creative and lively documentary about life in interwar Sarajevo, Istanbul, Belgrade, and Ankara. Under Zafranović’s direction and accompanied by the enchanting voice of Bosnian artist Božo Vrećo, press images from the SIBA archive come together to tell a story of joy and sorrow, wealth and poverty, Ottoman heritage and national modernity in southeastern Europe.
