Caroline Montebello joined the SNSF project “Ottoman Afterlife in Jordan and Iraq. Politics of Remembering and Forgetting in New Arab States (1920–1958)”, led by Aline Schläpfer, as a postdoctoral researcher in November 2025. She holds a dual Master’s degree from the EHESS and Sciences Po Aix-en-Provence, and completed in June 2025 a PhD in History at the EHESS and the University of Geneva, where she worked as a doctoral assistant and was affiliated with the SNSF project “Rockefeller Fellows as Heralds of Globalization” (2018–2022). Her dissertation, “Constructions et circulations transnationales de l'anthropologie genevoise : du Léman à la mer Noire (1845-1960)”, examines the transnational history of anthropology in Switzerland and the circulation of racial knowledge across Europe and West Asia.
